Bali had understood the glory and majesty of God. He told his Guru, “The Hand that grants boons to countless devotees, that Hand is stretched to receive what I offer in answer to the Lord’s desire. That Hand has all the worlds in its grasp. And, what does the Lord wish to get from me? He is asking only for that which He has given me! He has come to me in this Form to ask from me all that I have because the same is what He has given me.” Bali had convinced himself that the Lord gives and the Lord takes, that he is but an instrument, and that his destiny is to merge in the Lord. So, on this festival day, when we celebrate his dedication and renunciation, we must strengthen our faith that God’s will must prevail and is prevailing over all human effort. And, we must realise that tyaga (sacrifice) is the highest Sadhana. Be like Prahlada and Bali. Do not be Hiranyakashipus, for these are blinded by egoism. Pray to God; let prayer be your breath. Do not conflict with God and be cursed. Take this as the message on this Onam Day. – Divine Discourse, Sep 01, 1982.

Bali hatte die Herrlichkeit und Majestät Gottes verstanden. Er sagte zu seinem Guru: „Die Hand, die zahllosen Gottgeweihten Segen gewährt, diese Hand ist ausgestreckt, um zu empfangen, was ich als Antwort auf den Wunsch des Herrn darbringe. Diese Hand hat alle Welten in ihrem Griff. Und was wünscht der Herr von mir zu erhalten? Er bittet nur um das, was er mir gegeben hat! Er ist in dieser Gestalt zu mir gekommen, um alles, was ich habe, von mir zu verlangen, denn das ist es, was Er mir gegeben hat.” Bali hatte sich selbst davon überzeugt, dass Gott gibt und Gott nimmt, dass er nur ein Werkzeug ist und dass es seine Bestimmung ist, mit Gott zu verschmelzen. So müssen wir an diesem Festtag, an dem wir seine Hingabe und Entsagung feiern, unseren Glauben stärken, dass Gottes Wille sich durchsetzen muss und alle menschlichen Bemühungen überwiegt. Und wir müssen erkennen, dass Tyaga (Opfer) das höchste Sadhana ist. Seid wie Prahlada und Bali. Seid keine Hiranyakashipus, denn diese sind vom Egoismus geblendet. Betet zu Gott; lasst das Gebet euren Atem sein. Streitet nicht mit Gott und werdet nicht verflucht. Nehmt dies als Botschaft an diesem Onam-Tag. – Sri Sathya Sai, 1. September 1982.
