It was one of the sports of Krishna to go stealthily into the houses of Gopikas and upset pots containing milk and curds. The Gopikas, who were worried about Krishna’s pranks, were keen to catch Him red-handed. Krishna was an elusive thief. So, one Gopika suggested that the only way to catch Him was to pray to him. The Gopikas started praying to Krishna: “O Krishna, is it possible for us to catch You? You are subtler than the atom and vaster than the vastest thing in the world. You pervade every being in creation. How can we comprehend You?” As a result of the prayer, Gopikas were shown the means of catching Him. Krishna poured out milk from the pot, washed His feet in the milk and ran out of the house. Gopikas followed Krishna’s footprints and caught Him. The symbolic significance of this episode is that the Divine can be experienced only when the devotee clings to the feet of the Lord. Es war eine der Sportarten Krishnas, heimlich in die Häuser der Gopikas zu gehen und Töpfe mit Milch und Quark umzustoßen. Die Gopikas, die über Krishnas Streiche besorgt waren, wollten ihn auf frischer Tat ertappen. Krishna war ein schwer zu fassender Dieb. So schlug ein Gopika vor, dass die einzige Möglichkeit, ihn zu fangen, darin bestünde, zu ihm zu beten. Die Gopikas begannen, zu Krishna zu beten: „O Krishna, ist es möglich, dass wir dich fangen können? Du bist feiner als das Atom und größer als das Größte auf der Welt. Du durchdringst jedes Wesen in der Schöpfung. Wie können wir dich begreifen?“ Als Ergebnis des Gebets wurde den Gopikas das Mittel gezeigt, ihn zu fangen. Krishna goss Milch aus dem Topf, wusch seine Füße in der Milch und lief aus dem Haus. Die Gopikas folgten Krishnas Fußspuren und fingen ihn ein. Die symbolische Bedeutung dieser Episode ist, dass das Göttliche nur erfahren werden kann, wenn der Gläubige sich an die Füße des Herrn klammert.
