First, practise the attitude of “I am Yours”. Let the wave discover and acknowledge that it belongs to the sea. This first step is not as easy as it looks. The wave takes a long time to recognise that the vast sea beneath it gives it its existence. Its ego is so powerful that it will not permit it to be so humble, as to bend before the sea. “I am Yours; You are the Master. I am a servant; You are sovereign. I am bound.” This mental attitude will tame the ego. Make every activity worthwhile. This is the religious outlook named marjala-kishora — the attitude of the kitten to its mother, mewing plaintively for succour and sustenance, removing all trace of the ego. The next step is: “You are mine,” where the wave demands the support of the sea as its right. The Lord has to take the responsibility of guarding and guiding the individual. The individual is important, and worthy to be saved, and the Lord is bound to fulfil the need of the devotee. Surdas said, “You are mine; I will not leave You; I shall imprison You in my heart; you shall not escape.” The next stage is: “You are I” — I am but the image and You are the Reality. Übt euch zunächst in der Haltung „Ich bin dein“. Lasst die Welle entdecken und anerkennen, dass sie zum Meer gehört. Dieser erste Schritt ist nicht so einfach, wie er aussieht. Die Welle braucht lange Zeit, um zu erkennen, dass das weite Meer unter ihr ihr die Existenz gibt. Ihr Ego ist so mächtig, dass es ihr nicht erlaubt, so demütig zu sein, dass sie sich vor dem Meer verbeugt. „Ich bin dein, du bist der Meister. Ich bin ein Diener, du bist der Souverän. Ich bin gebunden.“ Diese geistige Haltung wird das Ego zähmen. Sie macht jede Tätigkeit lohnenswert. Das ist die religiöse Einstellung, die Marjala–Kishora genannt wird – die Haltung des Kätzchens zu seiner Mutter, das klagend um Beistand und Nahrung bittet und jede Spur des Ego beseitigt. Der nächste Schritt ist: „Du bist mein“, wo die Welle die Unterstützung des Meeres als ihr Recht einfordert. Der Herr muss die Verantwortung übernehmen, den Einzelnen zu beschützen und zu führen. Der Einzelne ist wichtig und würdig, gerettet zu werden, und der Herr ist verpflichtet, die Bedürfnisse des Gottgeweihten zu erfüllen. Surdas sagte: „Du bist mein; ich werde dich nicht verlassen; ich werde dich in meinem Herzen einsperren; du wirst nicht entkommen.“ Die nächste Stufe ist: „Du bist ich“ – ich bin nur das Bild und du bist die Wirklichkeit. Ich habe keine getrennte Individualität; es gibt keine Dualität. Alles ist Eines. Dualität ist nur eine Täuschung. – Sri Sathya Sai, 08. September 1963.
