Whoever subdues egotism, conquers selfish desires, destroys bestial feelings and impulses, and gives up the natural tendency to regard the body as the self, that person is surely on the path of dharma; that person knows that the goal of dharma is the merging of the wave in the sea, the merging of Self in the Over-self. In all worldly activities, be careful not to offend propriety or the canons of good nature; do not play false to the promptings of the inner voice; be prepared, at all times, to respect appropriate dictates of conscience; watch your steps to see whether you are in someone else’s way; be ever vigilant to discover the truth behind all this scintillating variety! This is your entire duty, your dharma. The blazing fire of wisdom (jnana), which convinces you that all this is Divinity (sarvam khalvidam Brahmam), will consume into ashes all traces of your egotism and worldly attachment. You must become intoxicated with the nectar of union with Brahman; that is the ultimate goal of dharma and of action (karma) inspired by dharma! – Dharma Vahini, Ch 1.

Wer den Egoismus unterdrückt, selbstsüchtige Wünsche überwindet, bestialische Gefühle und Impulse zerstört und die natürliche Neigung aufgibt, den Körper als das Selbst zu betrachten, der befindet sich mit Sicherheit auf dem Weg des Dharma; dieser Mensch weiß, dass das Ziel des Dharma die Verschmelzung der Welle im Meer ist, die Verschmelzung des Selbst im Überselbst. Beachtet bei allen weltlichen Aktivitäten, dass ihr nicht gegen die Anstandsregeln oder die Grundsätze der guten Natur verstoßt; spielt nicht falsch, wenn die innere Stimme euch etwas eingibt; seid jederzeit bereit, die angemessenen Gebote des Gewissens zu respektieren; achtet auf eure Schritte, um zu sehen, ob ihr jemand anderem im Weg seid; seid stets wachsam, um die Wahrheit hinter all dieser schillernden Vielfalt zu entdecken! Das ist eure gesamte Pflicht, euer Dharma. Das lodernde Feuer der Weisheit (Jnana), das euch davon überzeugt, dass all dies Göttlichkeit ist (Sarvam khalvidam Brahmam), wird alle Spuren eures Egoismus und eurer weltlichen Anhaftung zu Asche verbrennen. Ihr müsst euch mit dem Nektar der Vereinigung mit Brahman berauschen; das ist das letztendliche Ziel des Dharma und des Handelns (Karma), das vom Dharma inspiriert ist! – Dharma Vahini, Kapitel 1.
