As all rivers hurry towards the sea, let all your imaginings wend their way to God. The Play is His; the role is His Gift; the lines are written by Him; He decides the dress and decoration, the gesture and the tone, the entrance and the exit. You have to act well your part and receive His approbation when the curtain falls. Earn by your efficiency and enthusiasm the right to play higher and higher roles – that is the meaning and purpose of life. Do not get too much attached to the world, and too involved in its tangles. Keep your emotions always within hold. The waves agitate only the upper layers of the sea; down below it is calm. So too, when you sink into your depths, you must be free from the agitation of the waves. Know that most things are of no lasting value and can therefore be brushed aside; hold fast to the solid substance only. Wie alle Flüsse zum Meer eilen, so sollen alle eure Vorstellungen ihren Weg zu Gott nehmen. Das Stück ist Sein; die Rolle ist Sein Geschenk; die Zeilen sind von Ihm geschrieben; Er bestimmt das Kleid und die Dekoration, die Geste und den Ton, den Eingang und den Ausgang. Ihr müsst eure Rolle gut spielen und Seine Anerkennung erhalten, wenn der Vorhang fällt. Verdient euch durch eure Tüchtigkeit und euren Enthusiasmus das Recht, immer größere Rollen zu spielen – das ist der Sinn und Zweck des Lebens. Hängt nicht zu sehr an der Welt und verwickelt euch nicht zu sehr in ihre Verwicklungen. Behaltet eure Gefühle immer im Griff. Die Wellen regen nur die oberen Schichten des Meeres auf; unten ist es ruhig. Wenn ihr in eure Tiefen hinabsteigt, müsst ihr frei sein von der Unruhe der Wellen. Wisset, dass die meisten Dinge keinen bleibenden Wert haben und deshalb beiseite geschoben werden können; haltet nur an der festen Substanz fest.
