Dharma and Jnana (Right conduct and spiritual wisdom) are two eyes given to man to discover his uniqueness and his divinity. Dharma indicates right path which every individual, group or society should follow. Dharma destroys the one who violates it. Dharma protects the one who protects it. Scriptures have declared, “Where there is Dharma there is Victory”. There is no Dharma greater than Truth. The edifice of Dharma is erected on the foundation of Truth. Nyaya (justice) is an essential attribute of Dharma. A society or nation or an individual shines with glory only when they adhere to justice. Just as one acquires wealth by pursuit of agriculture, business or profession, one must acquire merit and divine grace by adhering to neeti (morality) and Dharma. However, Dharma alone is not enough. While Dharma leads to right action, it is necessary to acquire wisdom (Jnana). True knowledge consists in understanding the unity that underlies the cosmos. All sufferings and problems in life arise from the sense of duality. Once the feeling of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ is got rid of, the consciousness of all-pervading Divinity will be realised! – Divine Discourse, Jan 19, 1984.

Dharma und Jnana (Rechtes Verhalten und spirituelle Weisheit) sind zwei Augen, die dem Menschen gegeben wurden, um seine Einzigartigkeit und seine Göttlichkeit zu entdecken. Dharma bezeichnet den richtigen Weg, dem jedes Individuum, jede Gruppe oder Gesellschaft folgen sollte. Dharma zerstört denjenigen, der dagegen verstößt. Dharma schützt denjenigen, der ihn beschützt. In den Schriften heißt es: „Wo Dharma ist, da ist der Sieg“. Es gibt keinen Dharma, der größer ist als die Wahrheit. Das Gebäude des Dharma wird auf dem Fundament der Wahrheit errichtet. Nyaya (Gerechtigkeit) ist ein wesentliches Attribut des Dharma. Eine Gesellschaft, eine Nation oder ein Individuum erstrahlt nur dann in Ruhm, wenn sie sich an die Gerechtigkeit halten. So wie man Reichtum erwirbt, indem man Landwirtschaft, Geschäfte oder Berufe ausübt, muss man Verdienst und göttliche Gnade erwerben, indem man sich an Neeti (Moral) und Dharma hält. Dharma allein ist jedoch nicht genug. Während Dharma zu rechtem Handeln führt, ist es notwendig, Weisheit (Jnana) zu erwerben. Wahres Wissen besteht darin, die Einheit zu verstehen, die dem Kosmos zugrunde liegt. Alle Leiden und Probleme im Leben entstehen durch das Gefühl der Dualität. Sobald das Gefühl von ‚ich‘ und ‚mein‘ beseitigt ist, wird das Bewusstsein der alles durchdringenden Göttlichkeit verwirklicht werden! – Sri Sathya Sai, 19. Januar 1984.
