Once Sage Narada appeared before Lord Vishnu and said: “Oh Lord! I move about in the three worlds and I know the past, the present and the future. If I want to convey to You any special information, to what address should I send it? I do not want Your temporary address. What is Your permanent address?” Vishnu replied: “Narada! Take down My permanent address: Mad-bhaktah yatra gayanti, tatra tishtami, Narada (Wherever My devotees sing My glories, I install Myself there).” People ascribe various abodes to the Lord: Vaikunta, Kailasa, Badrinath, Kedarnath and so on. All these are only ‘care of’ addresses. The direct address is only the heart of the devotee. As the Gita says: “The Lord dwells in the heart region of all beings.” As the Lord is omnipresent, He is equally present in the heart of everyone. Hence the Lord is described as Atma-Rama – one who delights the Atma (the heart) by His presence! – Divine Discourse, Apr 14, 1989.

Einst erschien der Weise Narada vor Gott Vishnu und sagte: „ O Herr! Ich bewege mich in den drei Welten, und ich kenne die Vergangenheit, die Gegenwart und die Zukunft. Wenn ich dir eine besondere Information übermitteln möchte, an welche Adresse soll ich sie schicken? Ich möchte nicht deine vorübergehende Adresse. Wie lautet deine ständige Adresse?“ Vishnu antwortete: „Narada! Schreibe meine ständige Adresse auf: Mad-bhaktah yatra gayanti, tatra tishtami, Narada (Wo immer meine Gottgeweihten meinen Ruhm besingen, dort richte ich mich ein).“ Die Menschen schreiben dem Herrn verschiedene Aufenthaltsorte zu: Vaikunta, Kailasa, Badrinath, Kedarnath und so weiter. All dies sind nur ‚Fürsorge‘-Adressen. Die direkte Adresse ist allein das Herz des Gottgeweihten. Wie die Gita sagt: „Der Herr wohnt in der Herzregion aller Wesen.“ Da der Herr allgegenwärtig ist, ist er in gleicher Weise im Herzen eines jeden gegenwärtig. Daher wird der Herr als Atma-Rama beschrieben – der eine, der den Atma (das Herz) durch seine Gegenwart erfreut! – Sri Sathya Sai, 14. April 1989.
